What makes a splash at bath time?

When it comes to toddlers in the Purple Daisies world, bath time is a key part of the bedtime routine.  It is not only a great opportunity to scrub off the day’s paint, mud and pasta sauce, but also a time to wind the kids down and chat over the day away from screens and other distractions.

We have lots of favourite toys for toddler bath time, and we thought we’d share a few and hope you will do too!

We find that squeaky bath toys can get a bit stinky after a while of having bath bubbles left in overnight, so tend to avoid them in general.  Sure, with some proper attention they could be kept clean and hygienic, but who has the time for that!? We scoop up the toys and like to forget about them till the next night!

First off, we LOVE Moby the bath spout cover – this fun rubber whale fits over your bath taps to prevent you bashing bub’s head, or back, or your own arms on the tap spout. Genius! Moby is made from BPA & Phthalate-free rubber, but best of all he’s mould & mildew resistant.   If only the rest of the bathroom was, too.  Available from Kidly £12 – https://www.kidly.co.uk/products/skip-hop/moby-bath-spout-cover/3181

These colourful, chunky foam building blocks, with a floating building base, provide SO much fun for little ones learning to stack and build.  They are made from Edu-foam which, like Moby above, is extraordinarily resistant to mould and mildew and also ensures they will not absorb water or become misshapen.  They come with their own drainage bag which our little one’s love to pack the blocks into after bath time! Not currently available on the Edushape website, but are available from Amazon £19.99 – https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001F37M6Q/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1634&creative=6738&creativeASIN=B001F37M6Q&linkCode=as2&tag=mad06e-21

Stacking cups, in general, tend to be a big hit with the toddlers we know, and these little Skip Hop stackable ducks did not disappoint.  They tick the rubber duck box (without being rubber ducks) since they float and bob about in the water too! Available from John Lewis £7.99 –https://www.johnlewis.com/skip-hop-dunck-stacking-bath-toys/p231810430

This last toy was a gift, and it is so cute! The tiddlers really love the little bear! It is made from sustainable rubber wood and Planwood which is made from recycled rubber wood sawdust so it’s super-eco!  Available to purchase directly from Babipur for £10.96 –  http://www.babipur.co.uk/natural-wooden-toys/natural-bpa-free-bath-toys/plan-toys-polar-bear-sailing-boat.html

It should also be noted that wooden spoons, empty bobbins and old (but clean…) yoghurt pots make excellent bath toys and at times are favoured over anything we’ve bought!
